Labor Markets During and After the Pandemic

Labor Markets During and After the Pandemic

+ The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

This design project involved creating a brand identity for the Boston Fed’s 66th Economic Conference, Labor Markets During and After the Pandemic. The conference examined how COVID-19 has impacted the US labor markets, where researchers explored how changes in remote work, entrepreneurship, and automation affect the economy’s future.

The graphic identity uses data from the steep decline in jobs in 2020 to craft an impactful illustration. By utilizing the exact data from the downturn, the graphic visually represents the significant impact of the job market shift, conveying a powerful message about economic trends. The conference was not only focused on the decline of jobs, but the recovery, or climb out.

The conference design encompasses various elements, including live stream production graphics for session transitions, technical difficulties, and lower thirds. Collateral pieces such as digital agendas, directional signage, table covers, name tags, table tents, coasters, pens, and PowerPoint presentations were created to enrich the conference environment. Additionally, the collateral includes a program containing speaker biographies, agendas, a map of the conference floor, and a map of Boston’s financial district – within a 5 minute walk of the Bank, complemented by branded folders. Social media promotions featured session graphics depicting the panelists, effectively building engagement for the conference, fostering an inclusive virtual presence across online platforms.
