+ UAL Central Saint Martin’s Postcard Brief 2019
This project was inspired by the 99 Percent Invisible podcast episode titled “The First Straw.” The episode delves into the history of plastic straws, an object that has recently garnered significant criticism. The concept of “throw-away living,” especially with plastics, became a widespread necessity less than a century ago. This shift has had a profound impact on the environment, with an estimated 91% of plastic not being recycled.
To highlight this alarming statistic, I designed a postcard using illustrated plastic straws. The project aims to raise awareness about the dire consequences of plastic waste and the importance of addressing the issue of recycling.
+ UConn GD Design/ing / A Sense of Place Brief 2019
Focusing on sustainability and recycled materials, I set out to design a durable alternative to the single-use plastic straw. This project utilized found materials such as posters, magazine pages and covers, newspapers, take-away menus, and phonebook pages. By repurposing these everyday items, I created a practical and eco-friendly solution to reduce plastic waste while promoting the use of recycled resources.
